Both the Dutch and the German Wadden Sea were awarded World Heritage status.

You can reach the Wadden Island of Schiermonnikoog via a boat trip across the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site.

The jetty at the Groningen town of Lauwersmeer is the departure point of the ferry across the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site to Schiermonnikoog. The crossing takes about 45 minutes.
